Chemical Information Processing (ChIP)

The Next Big Thing?
BiPSA Technology Scenario Response Form

Using switchable molecular states for data storage, chemical excitations for data processing, and chemical structures for self-organizing, self-replicating chemical neural networks, is a vision propagated by the faithful few, but treated as esoterica by the busy majority. It's anyone's guess how long, if ever, ChIP would lay claim to "own" the 21st century, as Oil owned the 20th -- chemically speaking..

Learn More about chemical information processing and about the D&G Sciences use of the BiPSA tool

D&G Sciences was engaged to appraise some ChIP projects regarding chemical cryptographic fingerprints, with homeland security applications. As part of our appraisal methodology we seek to identify a community of experts to integrate their opinions and estimates using the BiPSA methodology. The specific appraisal would require a limited non-disclosure agreement, and the selected BiPSA respondents would be compensated for their opinion. If you like to lend us your opinion please introduce yourself by voting on the following broad ChIP scenario. The BiPSA integrated result would be made available to the public on a periodic basis so that any opinion trend can be readily spotted. It should help us get a headstart on this pending revolution.

Instructions : (1) Click one option per box, voting in the three sections below. (2) Please fill in the identification section, followed by the qualifications section in this form. (3) When you are done, click on the "Send to BiPSA-ChIP Processing Center" icon and your vote will be sent and integrated into the summary response.

Scenario in Question:

By the year 2015 Chemical Information Processing (ChIP) would manifest itself through widespread presence of at least one of the following technologies:
(1) manufacturing date and data chemically stored in plastic products, emulsions and composites;
(2) cryptographic applications: chemically expressed algorithms implemented for identification purposes and for minting chemical currency;
(3) Molecular state computers would offer competitive practical solutions to NP-complete problems.
